- Title
- Solar energy supply
- Abstract
Solar energy supply was assessed using different variables. Solar radiation (kJ m-2 day-1) (1970-2000) from word climate database, digital elevation model from Copernicus (to calculate aspect and slope) and insolation data. Solar energy data was re-sampled to 25 m resolution. Subsequently, all the variables reclassified from the least/low (1) to the most/high (5) favorable conditions/values according to natural breaks (jenks) interval. The final map was produced using a weight sum approach. It was attributed a weight of 50% to solar radiation and 25% to slope and aspect. The final results were validated with insolation data from 14 meteorological stations (r2=0.38).
