The mineral (sand) extraction demand in the Lithuanian EEZ was mapped using the polygon areas where beach nourishment event occured, identified in the study by Jarmalavičius et al. (2012) and the document “Smėlio išgavimo iš jūros dugno (Preilos – Juodkrantės šiaurinio poligono) ir Palangos rekreacinės zonos (Palangos tilto – Birutės kalno kranto ruožo) papildymo smėliu atrankos dėl poveikio aplinkai vertinimo dokumentas” from the Coastal Research and Planning Institute.
